ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR MANAGEMENT
Some say projects are all about implementation. While this - in the end - is true the prerequisites are often overlooked. Analysis and planning are essential stages in any project. Unfortunately they are rarely given the attention they deserve. No wonder so many projects fail in implementation.
Beside the lack of proper analysis in the early phase, we often miss a support structure with clear responsibilities. Who ist the Owner of the project? Who will take major decisions? Who assures that we have enough staff to deliver the project? And, not only for projects but for the daily work, we have to know how to effectively prepare and conduct meetings, how to summarize and delegate and control tasks afterwards. Sound easy, but is not in reality.
Quite often we see, that it is not the motivation of the project team which is lacking but the processes being applied. Many organisations do not have a systematic project management approach or the necessary skill base of their project managers needs to be updated.
